In the coming year the International Service Committee will seek to maintain its previous record of support for charities working overseas and will consider possible further developments.

That support depends on fundraising.  The annual Pigeon Shoot will continue to be a vital principal source of revenue.  In addition, we intend to run another social evening during the spring which will provide a good opportunity for ‘fun and fellowship’ but which will also help to raise income.  We will also investigate the possibility of organising a summer event to boost funds but with the principal aim of enjoyment at relatively low cost.

Charitable causes we plan to support again this year include:-

  • The shoe box scheme in association with St Andrew’s School, Kirkella
  • Aquabox.  Currently 3 schools are involved with the club in supporting the Aquabox Charity.  They are Bethune Park, Tilbury, and North Ferriby Primary Schools.  We shall investigate the possibility of further extension of the scheme in local schools.
  • Spectacle collection.
  • Luansobe School, Zambia, where we have an ongoing commitment to support the education of 2 boys.
A charitable cause we hope to support in addition to these are:
  • The Wheelchair Foundation, an RIBI preferred charity
Finally, but not least, we intend to support the club in its twinning arrangement with the Rotary Club of Bangalore by contributing to any donation made by the club to the Parikrma school.
